The Game of Blackjack
It was in 1440, in Germany, when gambling with cards was first introduced. Most of the games created had the objective of drawing game cards to have a certain value to win the game. Even though the relationship of the old games to current games remain unknown, it is obvious that blackjack emerged from some of these historical games. Baccarat, with the magic number of 9, appeared in Italy about 1490, followed by the game of seven and a half, which seems to be the first game where the player automatically lost if they went over the desired number. The game of one and thirty was first played sometime before 1570 in Spain, and the Duke of Wellington, the Marquis of Queensbury, and Prime Minister of Disraeli, all played quinze (15) in Crockford’s, the famous English casino, which flourished between 1827 and 1844. From France came trente et quarante (30 and 40), and finally vingt un, or vingt et un (21 or 20 and 1), which crossed the Atlantic ocean, and was listed in the American Hoyle of 1875. As first played in the United States, it was a private game, but by 1910, tables for twenty-one were being offered in the gambling parlors of Evansville, Indiana. Acceptance was slow, and to stimulate interest in 1912, operators offered to pay 3 to 2 for any count of 21 in the first two cards, and 10 to 1 if the 21 consisted of the ace of spades and either the jack of spades or the jack of clubs. This hand was called, of course, blackjack. The 10-to-1 payoff was soon eliminated, but the term remained, first as the name of any two-card 21 hand, and subsequently as the name of the game itself, although twenty-one would have been more appropriate. By 1919, tables covered with green material and emblazoned in gold letter announcing “Blackjack Pays Odds of 3 to 2″ were being manufactured in Chicago and appeared in gambling halls throughout the country. The popularity of the game grew slowly until gambling was legalized in Nevada in 1931, and blackjack soon became the third-most-successful game, outstripping faro, but trailing both roulette and craps. Because of the prohibitive casino edge of 5.26% in roulette, discouraged players drifted away from the game, and by 1948 blackjack had become the second-biggest casino moneymaker. This continued until 1956, when a book was published by Baldwin, Cantey, Maisel, and McDermott, containing a nearly perfect basic strategy, followed in 1962 by Edward O. Thorp’s book, which refined the strategy and added a counting system. Now, for the first time, the sophisticated gambler could learn to play nearly even with the house, and perhaps with a slight edge in their favor. This scientifically developed information sparked a nationwide interest in blackjack that has made it the number one game in American casinos today. Because the table is less than half the size of those required for craps, roulette, or baccarat, with a corresponding reduction in both number of players and casino personnel, blackjack is far less intimidating to the beginning player. Couple this with the simplicity of the basic rules, both the player and the dealer draw cards, and whoever comes closest to 21, without going over, wins.

Blackjack Card Values
Blackjack is a card game where one aims to accumulate a card total that’s higher than the dealer’s total without busting or exceeding 21. Since adding up card values is the basic skill used when playing blackjack, it’s important to know the breakdown of values per card in the game. There’s no problem about associating a value to the numbered cards (two to ten) since their amounts are already imprinted. Regarding face cards (jacks, queens, and kings), every single one of them is valued at ten. The ace card, however, is versatile since it can have a value of one or 11. But its versatility is directed by which number is appropriate in making the best total when you add up your blackjack card values. And here’s how the term “soft” and “hard” totals are coined when the ace is in play. Say you get an initial ace-nine deal. That alone makes a good soft total of 20. The term “soft” means that if you decide to hit or draw another card, there’ll be little to no risk of busting. For illustration’s sake, suppose you decide to hit on this soft 20 and you get two or higher. That’ll render a hard total since the best way to value the ace, from that point on, is at one so that you wouldn’t go over 21. So, if you get an ace-five on the initial deal in playing blackjack, you’ve got yourself a soft total of 15. If you decide to hit and draw a four, your new total will be a soft 19 since the ace in the ace-five-four combo is still valued at 11. But if the hit was a seven, in stead of totaling 22 which is a bust, the ace is understood to be valued at one which is the better alternative thus making the new hard total of 13 for the ace-five-seven combination. Blackjack card values are not complicated for many reasons such as suits are disregarded in adding them up, numbered cards are counted as is, and face cards are always valued at ten. It’s the ace card that presents tricky “hard” and “soft” totals in how they are added up in deals. In other words, as long as a hit request will retain the ace card’s value at 11, the sum is called a soft total. But if the previous hit reduces the ace’s value to one, it’s coined a hard total in blackjack.

With Blackjack, Bet on your Knowledge
Blackjack players can benefit by having a large knowledge base. This does not always work in your favor, but the more you know the better. When playing a hand of blackjack , you always want to bet on your knowledge. In other words, do what you think is right. If you are convinced that you know what you are doing, take a chance and see where it gets you. There are times when you simply need to follow what you know and see what happens. Sometimes you will win, and other times you will lose. The knowledge that you accumulate will help you in the future. Blackjack is not a game of many rules, but that being said, there are quite a few situations that you may run into. For this reason, you need to play as much as you can so that you can encounter as many of these situations as possible. When you see something one time, such as a particular hand, you will know how to better deal with this in the future. In turn, your chances of winning increase. The knowledge that you carry is your gateway to blackjack success . You should never stop learning, and always do your best to pick up a nugget of information no matter what happens. You can learn a lot by the moves that you make, as well as watching what others do. Many players are surprised to find out just how much they can pick up from other players and the dealer. In many cases, your knowledge of the game will be the difference between a win and a loss. Follow what you know, and then do what you can to let this guide you to success. But remember, there is nobody who knows everything about blackjack. All you can do is learn as you go along, and then use this knowledge to put yourself in the best position to win. Copyright 2007 Online Blackjack News.

After you dealer
Three times I got to play my hand after the dealer’s hole card was exposed. First a dealer peeked under a 10 and flipped over a4! We all have experienced the “double dip” look at a 4 in the hole under a 10 and flipped over a4! Marvin French says: We all have experienced the “double dip” look at a 4 in the hole under a 10, but this is the first time I have seen the 4 turned over. I was playing two hands. The first, with a toke, totaled nine. I could not double down, so I hit and caughtance. The second hand was fourteen, so I stood. Instead of me breaking, the dealer broke and I won. The second time was at the MGM. A super-fast dealer did not wait for me to double after splitting 7-7 against her 6, when I caught an ace on the second 7. She flipped up her hole card , a 10, before I could even blink. I screamed for the pit boss, who let me double down. When the dealer broke I won. The third time was at Sundowner. I wanted to double down on ten against an ace because of a high count. I stupidly laid my hand face down as I reached for my wallet. The dealer thought I was standing and turned over her hole card, a 4. The pit boss was understanding and said I could stand, hit, or double. I doubled, and this dealer also broke.

Florida Lawmakers and Seminole Officials Continues to Discuss Gaming Compact
Casino Name Bonus Amount Review Visit Blackjack News After years of difficult talks, there are talks that a Seminole gaming deal could finally be approved. Florida legislators say that the two chambers and the Seminole tribe are closer than ever on approving a compact that could permit a five-year blackjack legalization at Seminole gaming facilities that already offers casino table games and some form of exclusivity on slot machines except in the counties of Miami-Dade and Broward. House Representative Bill Galvano, who has been leading the talks, said that he is meeting the Seminole tribe on March 22nd, 2010 or March 23rd, 2010. A gaming agreement could come next week although Rep. Galvano added that he does not want to give a specific time frame but he is hoping that they could get it done as soon as possible. It appears that the Seminole tribe would get a five-year approval to manage blackjack tables at its casino facilities in Coconut Creek, Hollywood, Immokalee and Tampa. That is a compromise for the Florida legislature. In 2009, the Senate and the House wanted the Seminoles to stop blackjack table that were already being offered at the Immokalee casino facility in the Naples-Ft. Myers gaming market-something the tribe were reluctant to do. The tribe proposed the idea of having a maximum number of blackjack tables divided across all of its seven casino facilities but Rep. Galvano is not keen on the idea. He said that they want to keep the game in as few casino facilities as possible. He added that limiting the number of blackjack table at casino facilities that offer them could also affect Florida’s revenue share. Rep. Galvano said that the five-year authorization on blackjack would accomplish two things: it will clear up the federal gaming law and it will also force them to evaluate where they are going as a state in terms of gaming. Rep. Galvano said that the Seminole tribe is looking for some kind of slots exclusivity. The Seminole tribe is opposed to a statewide approval of Class II video lottery terminals, which look like and functions like slot machines. Rep. Galvano said that there will be some exceptions to the exclusivity since the tribe has been very opposed to the VLT’s especially with the amount that they are paying on the slot machines. He added that House and Senate staff are currently discussing on how to hammer out the technical aspects of the agreement. Sen. J.D. Alexander (R-Lake Wales) said that he will only believe that the Seminole gaming agreement is close when he sees it personally. Monday, April 12 , 2010Emma Green

Tips for Becoming a Solid Blackjack Player
Blackjack is a popular table game that attracts players for a number of reasons. First off, this game is easy to learn and just as easy to play.In addition to this, if you make the right bets at the right time you can win plenty of money. With that being said, you should never think that blackjack is easy money. If you have ever played this game, you know that nothing could be further from the truth. If you want to become a solid blackjack player who always has the chance to win, follow the three tips below.1. Never play until you are sure of every rule. This holds true when playing blackjack, as well as every other casino game. If you do not know the rules you will find it difficult to win and understand both the ups and downs. Luckily, as mentioned above, blackjack is not a difficult game to learn.2. Build up the amount that you bet. You never want to place large bets until you are comfortable doing so. Instead, stick to low limit tables that will allow you to get your feet wet. If you are going to lose, you might as well do so when playing with as little money as possible. As you gain confidence in your skills, you can then step up the amount of money that you bet.3. Take advantage of every possible learning opportunity. This includes asking questions of other players, reading online, and practicing with friends at home. The more that you learn about blackjack, the more comfortable you will feel playing and placing large bets.If you are in search of a simple card game that is easy to learn, blackjack may be right for you. This is the most popular table game at most casinos, and once you learn the basics you will be able to play no matter what establishment you walk into. Copyright 2007 Online Blackjack News.

Bla Black Jack
Blackjack is a well known card game since recorded gambling. Playing blackjack is easy – just get a twenty – one (21) by summing up card values. How? Once the dealer deals a player a pair of cards, try to add the values. If your sum equals to twenty one “thanks friend”. “Blackjack!” as most winners are hoping to exclaim with enthusiasm. Nonetheless, if not lets hope, the sum of your cards is near but not beyond 21 and higher than what the dealer deals themselves. Blackjack Counting 101: Number cards are only equal to their face value 2 – 10. The ace has a dual value and can be either 1 or 11. Then, royalty or face cards all equal to ten. Example 1, in this example lets say that the two initial cards are the Jack of Clubs and Ace of Diamonds, if we sum up the values of these card it will be eleven correct? 1 + 10 = 11. But, as we said earlier an ace could be an eleven so ten plus one equals twenty-one. Your ace now is referred as a soft card simply because of its value (eleven). Thus I think someone won that round and in this example it is actually a black jack. How about if the player is dealt 2 aces for example number 2, logically their value will be twenty-two or a two or even twelve. In order to be in the game, one should ask for another card, let’s say that the next card that comes up is a nine. 21 = 11 + 1 + 9. How come? Remember an ace can be counted as either a one or an eleven. This time the ace, which has a value of 1 is referred to as hard card. Statistics and probability enthusiast create their own winning formula(s). Honestly, there are blackjack players who make blackjack a profession. This also is a caution of most casinos. So, to help counter the professional gamblers that play blackjack casinos ended up using multiple decks to help prevent card counting. It was done to help prevent losses and the multiple decks are typically 2 -10 (decks) which they call a shoe. Casinos make profit not just by playing blackjack. Moreover, there are also side bets as they call it. Here are some to name a few. Triple 7′s: A seven, you get paid equal to your bet. Two 7′s get paid thrice your bet and finally (and fortunately) Three 7′s get paid seven times. And you win – with 21! Six-to-Eight = if you get a six, a seven, and an eight your bet is paid doubled. And it is again a 21! A-Nine-A = if you 2 aces and a nine this time your bet is paid 6 times. And again 21! It is still your judgment call …, when you’re in a streak would you still sit-and-play or stand-and-go? ATTENTION! Different casinos have their own set of rules. Observe before you sit and play. Enjoy bla bla blackjacking!

Gov. Charlie Crist and Florida Legislature Discusses Seminole Gaming Compact
Casino Name Bonus Amount Review Visit Blackjack News Less than twenty-four hours after imploring the state legislature to approve a gaming compact with the Seminole Indian Tribe, Florida Governor Charlie Crist met with the main House negotiator to continue discuss the issue. Gov. Crist and State Representative Bill Galvano (R-Bradenton), met for about thirty minutes on March 4th, 2010 to talk about the gaming negotiations that have been going on for more than a year. Galvano said that he assured Gov. Crist that they can reach an agreement with the tribe. But it will not be the same agreement that Gov. Crist and the Seminole tribe proposed to the Florida legislature in 2009 that would have permitted blackjack and other banked card games at all seven casino facilities of the tribe in Florida. Rep. Galvano and the Legislature have proposed for expanded banked card games at just four of the seven casinos of the tribe to protect the pari-mutuel facilities, which also provides tax revenues to Florida. Rep. Galvano said that he is closely working with the Seminole tribe on a new agreement that can be presented to Gov. Crist. The game of blackjack is already being offered at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Tampa, Florida, even though a new gaming compact has not yet been approved. Galvano has argued that the card games are illegally being offered at the gaming facilities, given that the previous gaming agreement that would have permitted them was dismissed by the legislature. Crist, in his State of the State speech on March 2nd, 2010, implored the legislature to approve the gaming compact with the Seminoles. Crist has estimated that more than $400 million in revenue would come to Florida this year if an agreement is reached. Crist told the legislators that he was not a fan of gambling either but he urged the lawmakers to be realistic about the current economic situation of the state. Rep. Galvano said that he told Gov. Crist that the legislature wants access to the Seminole gambling revenues too and they will do everything to make it a reality. Sunday, March 21 , 2010Thomas Johnson
